Upcoming Election Deadlines
For the June 23rd, 2026 Regular Primary Election, note the following important deadlines:
- Party Affiliation Change: Must be updated by 5:00 pm on Wednesday, April 1st, 2026.
- Voter Registration: Your county clerk must receive your registration by 5:00 pm on Friday, June 12th, 2026.
Missed the registration deadline? You may still register in person at an early voting location or on Election Day with two forms of identification.
Eligibility Requirements
To register to vote in the State of Utah, you must meet all of the following criteria:
- Be a United States Citizen.
- Be a resident of Utah for at least 30 days immediately preceding Election Day.
- Be at least 18 years old on or before Election Day.
How to Register or Update Your Registration
Register Online
The fastest way to register or update your existing registration. You will need a valid Utah Driver’s License or State ID card to proceed.
Register by Mail
Download, print, and fill out the official paper form. You must mail or email this document directly to your County Clerk’s office.
Register In-Person
Visit your local County Clerk’s office during standard business hours to fill out your registration in person.
Frequently Asked Questions
Am I considered a resident of Utah?
You are considered a resident if your primary home is in Utah and you intend to stay here permanently or indefinitely. For registration purposes, you must be a resident for at least 30 days immediately preceding Election Day.
I have a felony. Can I register to vote?
Yes. If you are a convicted felon, you can register and vote unless you are currently serving a jail or prison sentence. Rights are restored automatically upon parole, probation, or completion of incarceration.
I am a college student living away from home. Where do I register?
You should register at the address you consider your permanent residence—this can be either your home address or your school address, but you may only be registered in one location.
Is my voter registration information shared with third parties? Protected Data
Voter registration records are considered public information and a list of voters is available to the public upon request. However, there are two categories of privacy for your record: Public and At-Risk.
Protected Information: Regardless of your category, your Social Security Number, Driver’s License or State ID number, email address, full date of birth, phone number, and signature are strictly private and never given to the public.
Public Category: Under Utah Code 63G-2-201, public voter lists include your name, physical and mailing addresses, year of birth, party affiliation, and vote history (not how you voted).
At-Risk Category: Recently amended by SB 153, certain voters may have their personally identifiable information anonymized from public requests. Eligible voters include:
- Victims (or potential victims) of domestic violence or dating violence
- Law enforcement officers
- Individuals protected by a protective or protection order
- Members of the armed forces
- Public figures
- A person who resides with any of the individuals listed above
